The Land of The Free and The Home of the Stylish

Earlier this week I posted a pretty cliche outfit idea for the Fourth of July. But you don’t have to dress in head to toe festive wear including stars and stripes, there are more stylish ways to dress festive and celebrate in style. But if you do the whole cliche #ootd, that’s totally cool and you do you boo; but it’s not for everyone.

If you are wanting to be patriotic and still stylish it’s very simple. Find a color palette of blues, reds or whites. You can actually mix all three in tastefully like adding a red lip to a classic jean shorts and white t-shirt look. Extremely casual, perfect for the holiday activities and still festive AF. Also all the Summer vibes which the 4th of July is all about. I opted for the very classic white tee and denim shorts look paired with funky glasses, classic white chucks and a bold bright red lip. I through on this cocoon light weight jacket that is hand dyed with indigo for another hue of blue and a little more fun for the classic look. Also the weather has been extremely bipolar in the mountains so chilly mountain air will probably make an appearance in the evening of the Fourth.  It makes a fashionable statement for the holiday but it’s also as American as apple pie and baseball.

You can find things in your closet already to wear. Like I said; just look for hues of reds, whites or blues. And put something together to make you feel put together for the holiday.

I originally tucked the white tee in to the shorts for a little more of a fun look. But I also understand it’s not for everyone. And this outfit looks just as fun with the shirt untucked.

I hope all of you have a great long holiday weekend (if you get that) and hope you all have a great time next week celebrating Summer and #Merica!

Happy Memorial Day! I hope you all had a great long weekend and are savoring the last day before work starts again for the week. While you are grilling and celebrating the first weekend of Summer I do hope that you take the time to remember all of the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for your freedom. Today sadly I am working but thought I would pair this festive scarf from Target (similar one here that you can get for 30% off this weekend). Happy beginning of Summer!

Body Positivity Through Swim Wear

Body Positivity Through Swim Wear Body Positivity Through Swim Wear Body Positivity Through Swim Wear Body Positivity Through Swim Wear Body Positivity Through Swim Wear

Did you cringe or flinch when swim wear began to hit the store floors? Are you rethinking having Summer fun now that the weather is warming up, pools are opening, lake or beach trips are being planned and water parks are opening? Are you saying you don’t have a beach or pool body? Well you do and you should rethink all you Summer plans after reading this.

You do have a body. A body that does great things for you. It does awesome things like breathing, walking and pushing the limits. So now all you have to have is some body of water and just like that you have a bathing suit body. Why? Because it seems only natural to wear swim wear to a body of water due to the material and how it allows your body to move while doing water activities. I mean you aren’t going to wear denim in to the pool are you?

Bathing suits are just like jeans and the most complicated items to find that fit, are flattering and you feel comfortable in. But just like finding that perfect pair of jeans you love, you have to actually try. You have to spend countless hours trying on and doing your research. You have to find something you feel comfortable in and say in your head, “Damn this works”. Find something you like and not what other people like. Don’t wear things based on what other people might think. If you are bigger and feel confident in a two piece that shows your stomach, and you like it, don’t let the fears of others stop you. You can feel comfortable in a bikini, tankini or a one piece. And just like jeans, once you find that perfect one, you buy it. You buy it without hesitation. You get it before it’s gone.

You put that bathing suit on that you feel on top of the world in, and without awkwardly pulling or holding your arms or hiding, you wear that! You go swimming, you lounge by the water, you enjoy all the Summer activities. Because you do have a beach or pool body. Because you have a body and a bathing suit you feel comfortable in.

While in your bathing suit, don’t forget to give compliments! Compliments boost confidence. You can help someone else tackle their fear of standing up tall with their beach or pool body. How simple is it to tell someone you like the pattern, color or style of their choice of swim wear? It’s not. It’s really not.

So this Summer let’s all be confident in what we are choosing to put on our bodies and let’s help everyone else; no matter their size or shape; feel confident in what they are wearing.

It’s not quite time to pack away the summer clothes (at least here in Asheville) and Summer officially isn’t over until September 22, so until then I will still be wearing shorts and sleeveless shirts, oh and rompers! I picked up this romper from Old Navy before my Pawley’s Island trip because it was perfectly lightweight and comfortable, plus when I got it it was on super sale (which is no longer available); the bright pattern is also something I’m not fond of but when in romper form it just worked for me. Since the mornings and evenings are cooler here I might add a light weight black cardigan to this if I were to be out and about at those times. But other than that I am still celebrating summer? Are you still celebrating summer in your #ootd or activities?

I don’t know about all of you, but to me this week has literally took forever to be done. I am more than ready to shout TGIF! On the weekends I generally have a lot of errands to do and get ready for the next weekend. This weekend is no different but at least this weekend I get to attend the Julie Bee’s Trunk Show at Twist Boutique (you can find all the information you need HERE). Other than that there will be errands and some class teaching happening, so I need/want to be extremely comfortable. You guys know I love t-shirts probably more than anything so that’s my weekend go to and during this heat of July they go perfect with some cutoffs and easy shoes. To spice up any shorts and tee or jeans and tee it’s really simple to do with jewelry. I feminized this sporty outfit by adding a sparkly necklace and a dainty necklace with significance.

I hope all of you have a great weekend planned. Feel free to let me know in the comments what you are doing because well I want to know!

P.S. Make sure you stay tuned next week because there will be lot’s of fun on the blog!.

Off the shoulder shirts and dress have made a huge comeback for this season. I have been iffy about this trend for a while now because most of the tops or dresses look a little too fiesta for my taste or are extremely bright (and with my pale skin that’s a no go). But I found this dress at Target that was black (had it in blue and cream) and knew this was one I could pull off. The dress is very 70’s style (which I love) but perfect for casual or dressing up. The elastic on the shoulders also isn’t extremely uncomfortable like some I have tried on before. I kept the dress very casual for the look and only added color with my clutch for a fun little pop, but I have already thought of several other ways to style this dress and get a totally different vibe.

Happy Wednesday and stay tuned to the blog tomorrow for some very exciting news!.

The weekend is finally here! I felt like this week has been so long, but it’s probably trying to recover from a few days off for the holiday weekend. This weekend I have a lot of errands to do and it has been pretty warm in Asheville so a light weight cotton sun dress is the perfect thing to throw on and go. This dress is even more perfect because I found this at Wal-Mart (yes Wal-Mart, they have stepped up their game) for right at $10.00! This dress is very comfortable, flattering, light weight and was very affordable! So it’s just perfect for running around town getting everything done! By throwing on a denim vest, a sparkly necklace and a fun bag I can easily go from errands to a dinner or a summer BBQ!

I hope all of you have a great weekend! Stay tuned next week for some fun blog posts!

From Office to Friday Date Night

Dress- Ross Dress For Less (in stores only) // Shoes-Kohls (old) // Bag-Target // Necklace-Vintage // Bracelet-Pandora // Sunnies-Target

Whether you have meetings galore or work in an office setting; a flattering, comfortable, affordable and neutral dress is perfect from going to work to a datenight! I love this blue dress I picked up at Ross Dress For Less because it has the perfect bit of professionalism to it but also can be styled for fun. If wearing this to meetings or this office I would wear some flats with this. With wedges tucked away the simplest thing by changing shoes make this perfect for date night. This would also look really great for datenight with a neon necklace for a more playful look.

Even though I don’t work in an office setting any longer, I still having meetings and presentations to attend. When I am shopping, to remain budget friendly, I look for pieces like this dress to transition from day to night and from season to season. This helps with spending less and finding pieces I really like.

I hope all of you have a great holiday weekend!

Fourth of July weekend is upon us! Let’s drink, eat, play and be festive! Most importantly let’s be thankful we live somewhere we are celebrating our freedoms, because we sure do have a lot of them! Of course I decided to go with a patriotic outfit representing ‘Merica with the red, white and blue. I love this scarf I got from target because it’s perfectly light weight for the patriotic holidays we celebrate in the summer, but it would also be really neat with maybe a more rocker chic outfit in the fall. I kept everything really simply for the festivities for this weekend so I can be comfortable for the cookouts and fireworks show! If you don’t have anything yet to wear for the festivities I think this, this and this would be great for Saturday. I hope all of you have a great and safe weekend with whatever you are doing! Let me know in the comments what you are doing for the 4th!

Here is a list of the fun things happening in Asheville that you can attend on a budget! Also the Asheville Tourists have a game Friday night with a fireworks show afterwards!

If you are drinking, please drink responsibly! Don’t drink and drive. If you have no ride please use this code RIDIN30 for UBER to make your safe ride home a little more affordable!.

Summer Date Night

Dress-Target // Kimono-Target // Booties-Belk (old)// Hat-Forever 21 // Necklaces-Jared & Charlotte Russe (old) // Rings- Ashkal and Elementality //Earrings-Jared // Bag-Gifted

Date night during the summer is something I rarely get to have. Schedules are so busy saving for vacations and school so work honestly takes up a lot of time. So when Andrew and I decided to go out for a dinner I decided to take advantage of the time and dress up. Like I have said numerous times, I’m really into the boho look here lately so this shift dress and kimono from Target were perfect! I love kimonos because they add that extra boho vibe to any look plus it adds an extra layer for those cool summer nights. Also I think with the casual vibe of a kimono it allows you to be more freely with your shoe choices which is why I opted for some booties instead of heels or sandals. Seriously if you haven’t gotten yourself a kimono I highly recommend it, plus I’m almost positive it is going to roll over as a trend in Fall.

If you are in the Asheville area I highly suggest checking out AshevilleBoard and their website. It’s really great to help with your date nights because daily you have the chance to win free food, discounts and even cash. And weekly on their Facebook page you can win gift cards to restaurants or special dining experiences.
