Currently Craving: Fall Wish List

Dress

Ever since I have discovered the designer YANA K, I have been obsessed. And dying to have a piece in my closet. Luckily a local boutique carries the designs, but just lacking the color I’m looking for; black go figure. And when this babe was added to the new collection, I’ve been smitten. It is a bit pricey, but I’m really starting to focus on quality over quantity. Handmade in the U.S.A and from a smaller business. Just let me add this to my shopping cart and then my closet, mmmkay!

Boots

These boots are giving me all the heart eyes! And from a reliable company, made to stand the test of time. I really want a boot that is going to go with everything whether it be jeans or a dress and of course not fall apart after a few wears (damn you $40.00 boots). How cute would these boots be with the above dress?!? I mean come on.

Necklace

I posted Wednesday about my love for layering necklaces. And I’m wanting something dainty but oversized, plus a little more personal. This coin necklace is just the ticket. You can get anything engraved on it, it comes it different sizes and lengths as well as two different metals. Pretty perfect for achieving that Stevie Nicks look.

Work Out Gear

Shoes

I’m really wanting to get some new work out gear including leggings and shoes. Perfect for hiking, yoga classes and barre (that I’m just getting in to). Or ya know that whole athleisure trend of running errands in work out gear.

Seeing Stars

SHOP THIS POST: Tank // Jeans // Sneakers // Scarf (in stores only in the Dollar Spot) // Sunnies

We’ve come a long way in styling an #ootd for the Fourth of July since our mom dressed us and our siblings in matching Old Navy Flag Shirts. Ohh you know exactly what I’m talking about. And if you feel so inclined to go down memory lane, they are still producing their classic flag tee every year, here’s this year’s version. So this year I opted for some classic Old Navy goodness to bring together my patriotic 4th of July outfit.

I went for a super casual tank, that has stars on it, duhhh. Extremely flowy, really faded and all the Americana vibes. And by faded, I mean real faded. You will only be able to wear a nude bra with this because the material is extremely lightweight (yes please for that hot, sticky day) and you can see through it, especially the star portion. I like this tank because it’s cliche enough to wear for fireworks and cook outs but I can totally style this all Summer longer for a little edgier look. And it’s also not over the top cliche. But it’s the 4th of July, so who really cares honestly.

I paired this tank with cuffed jeans for that perfect Summer touch and a more grown up and pulled together look than pairing this with shorts. Ohh I cuffed these jeans to have some sort of air flow because we all know it’s bound to be hot and sweaty on the holiday in the South. Threw on some white chucks and paired it with a festive scarf and I’m ready to go. Can you guys believe I found this scarf in the Dollar Spot at Target?!? Red, lightweight and it has the most adorable patriotic tassels along the edges. $3.00! Win, Win for something you won’t wear all the time.

This look is perfect for a BBQ, beer and fireworks. Also if you are in Asheville please let me know where you watch fireworks. Almost 8 holidays here and I still haven’t found the “perfect” spot. Bring on the sparklers!

What are y’all wearing and getting in to for the holiday?

I’ll be sharing a more sophisticated 4th of July outfit later this week, because some of us will still choose fashion and style over cliche holiday vibes.

Also make sure you are following me on Instagram because I am hosting a huge giveaway for a Summer makeover along with some other amazing blogger babes this week! Get yourself entered!

Bare Shoulders and New Favorite Piece of Jewelry

Top // Jeans // Sandals // Bag // Choker // Half Moon Necklace

Summer is near and it’s time to show some skin. And the skin I like to show is on the shoulders. And off the shoulder tops have been a thing for a long time, but just recently become popular. I remember wearing an off the shoulder dress in the Bahamas in 2009 and I bought an off the shoulder top for a beach trip a few years back. But because everyone and their momma is wearing one these days, you can easily find them in just about any print or fabric. When I saw this super simple one from Target (which can actually be worn off the shoulder or on) and of course in a stripe, it just jumped in to my cart.

I love the simpleness of this top. I can wear it anywhere and for anything. I can dress it up or dress it down. Paired with these killer white jeans and sandals gives an edgy casual look perfect for just about anything. Even a housewarming/ jewelry party as seen on my Instagram. This top is becoming a favorite worn piece that I am considering going back and getting it in the black and white version offered.

Another reason I love this top and off the shoulder tops is the ability to layer necklaces and it not be over kill. And a recent favorite is this little gemstone choker from a little downtown boutique, Embellish. I have been on the hunt for a choker that is not the standard leather cording. Something of sustainability, something different, something that will still go with everything and something adjustable to layer different ways. I had my heart set on a little gold choker from another boutique but couldn’t bring myself to actually getting it not sure if it would be worn or not. Enter this necklace. The moment I saw it, I knew it was actually what I was looking for. I actually received this as a gift but had planned on buying this for myself anyways. I love this because it isn’t gold or silver or your typical leather strap choker. It’s more feminine. I love the purple color even though there was a grey version offered. I love the way it layers with other necklaces and doesn’t seem to distract, it just pulls everything of a metal together. It’s simple and versatile and I’m in love. I wish the lady who made these, had a link for all of you, but she doesn’t; so now you just have to pop in and see the lovely Barb and check out this piece for yourself.

A Maxi For Mom

Dress // Sandals // Jewelry

Mother’s Day is this weekend; so I hope you have picked out your momma the best gift or have come up with a thoughtful gesture! So whether you are brunching, lunching or grilling out with your mom, your #ootd needs to be on point, because mom deserves your best look!

I’ve been looking through my closet trying to find the perfect outfit for Mother’s Day, because I’m heading to Biltmore. And the maxi dresses just seem perfect. Long enough to be classy and respectful, but with a fun boho vibe. And a maxi is easy, just the way I want dressing to be on a Sunday. You don’t have to worry about putting together an outfit that just works and let’s face it, even though we love mom, Sundays are still our lazy days.

I already have a strappy, short staple for this Spring and Summer, but this dress is going to be my maxi go to. Enough black in the dress to satisfy my neutral loving heart but with some pops of colors spaced throughout the stripes for a fun Spring/Summer pop. The added tribal print on the straps, plus a fun strappy back eliminates my need for a necklace, making it the easiest throw on and go, pulled together look. All I needed was some sandals and my go to daily jewelry (bangles and rings). Perfect for errands, traveling, brunch, cook outs or patio drinking.

Mom would def approve of this dress (and the price point).

High Low and Dip Dyed

Pants // Top // Necklace // Shoes // Clutch

Goodbye weekend, hello week. I didn’t actually get a weekend day this weekend because a bunch of schedule changes. And this week is going to be an extremely long, hard and sad week. So dressing for the free time I have had, it had to have absolutely no thought in to it but still look completely pulled together. Enter the high low top.

It’s your take on a breathable t-shirt but dressed up enough to make you looked pull together. I also love a good high low top for Spring and Summer, because it’s hot and humid in the South but you still want to cover up any troubled areas. And this top does just that.

I can’t find this top anywhere on the Target website, but girl if you can find this top in stores I highly suggest scooping it up. I kind of want to sleep in this top, it’s that soft. Paired with black pants and wedges says hey, I’m super comfortable but don’t look like I just rolled out of bed. And let’s just talk about the wedges for a second. Oh so comfortable! I could do all kinds of walking in these. And I did just that. Ice cream run, grocery store shopping and a few other errands.

I hope you all have a great week!

The In-between Vest

Similar Vest // Shirt // Jeans // Similar Booties // Necklace // Ring // Sunnies

We are officially in those in-between days. It’s Spring, but here in the mountains some days Winter creeps back in, there’s a lot of rainy days, the days are sweltering or there is a breeze that makes it chilly. So dressing for these days can be tricky. So since the weather is all over the map, I’ve been reaching for good layering pieces. Just like this long vest. I picked this vest up from Target’s Who What Wear collection last year and it was a good choice.

This vest pairs well with just jeans and a tee shirt like I have here to add a little warmth to a very simple look. It pulls the simple #ootd together for a very chic look. But it also pairs well with long sleeve shirts and an added cardigan to this look. By adding a cardigan to this specific look you can wear it all day and adjust the cardigan as the weather seems fit. On Sunday when wearing this it started off chilly and ended colder. I did a quick swap of my vest for a leather jacket to take me in to the night.

I added some funky jewelry and shades to make this outfit me and a little more chic. With a vest or sleeveless trench in a neutral color, you can just about style it any way you want. And you can wear a numerous amount of things underneath. A cute skater skirt, band tee and fun booties would also look ultra chic under this!

A vest, sleeveless trench or kimono is a great way to play with lengths and add an extra layer in this in-between weather. Plus it’s a great way to incorporate a really good neutral or a really wild print. I’m really loving this, this and this.

Non-Cheesy Valentine’s Day Look

Shirt // Jeans // Jacket (similar) // Booties // Scarf // Ring and Ring // Similar Tote // Scarf (on tote) // Necklace

I’m just going to go ahead and say it. Valentine’s Day and dressing for Valentine’s day can be really cheesy. I mean we all love some good cheesiness in our lives, especially quirky little cards and gifts for the day, but the outfit doesn’t have to be an explosion of pinks, reds and hearts. Unless you totally want it to, YOU DO YOU GIRL! For me, that doesn’t work, mainly because I don’t own anything with hearts on it or really a lot of pink and red. Y’all know I keep a minimal color scheme going on.

I had bought this jacket from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2 years ago and strangely hadn’t pulled it out of my closet this year, mainly because our crazy weather here in Asheville has required either my parka or a cardigan, but when pulling together Valentine’s Day outfits I knew this was to be styled some way (Also I started wearing again despite what the weather may be). I pulled this because it didn’t scream Valentine’s Day but it also worked with a romantic color scheme. So why not?!

I don’t do fancy date nights often. So over the top outfits don’t work for me. Plus lets be real, I’m more casual than fancy anyways. So I took my trusty black jeans and a favorite boyfriend shirt and created a look that would work for my kind of Valentine’s Day date. Threw on this jacket and some booties for an extra modern chic look that fits my look and pulled what could have been just an ehh outfit together. I added my favorite rings, necklace and scarf which just adds more to this modern rocker chic look. To make a pop for Valentine’s this rose gold tote was perfect and tying a star scarf on it made it a little more edgy than girly. And bam, there it was, my #ootd for Valentine’s Day or any day for that matter. This outfit is perfect for errands, meetings, work and able to go straight in to a fun night.

Black Hues

Top // Leggings // Sweater-old (similar, similar, similar) // Booties-old (similar) // Short Necklace // Long Necklace (CURRENTLY ON SALE)

So if you are new around here; Hi, my name is Stephanie and I love wearing black! It just works for me, it works for all my activities and is slimming. But sometimes, almost all my black clothes are in the wash together. The best alternative is mixing hues of blacks like greys.

Last weekend when it snowed, by Sunday I *had* to get out. I had to get some sushi and Andrew and I also had a joint freelance meeting. So my go to for meetings is black but I needed to be able to be comfy moving around. Since I shockingly don’t have a swingy black top I opted for this. Currently putting on my notes section to pick up one of these tops from Versona in black. It’s super casual so I opted for some texture and print with an aztec inspired cardigan and fringe booties. When wearing all black I like to add a pop of muted color somewhere. So I added this new Noonday Collection burgandy/rust fringe necklace paired with a choker length necklace.

Perfect for running around and went together easily when I didn’t have my go to black top.

Boyfriend’s Closet

Top // Jeans // Sandals // Necklace (gifted) // Similar Hat // Sunnies

No I didn’t not get dressed from my boyfriends closet but I did finally cave on the boyfriend jean trend. And ahhh I’m so gad I did. These jeans are the best. They aren’t uncomfortable like a lot of jeans are and the loose fit is perfect for casual days. I even went as far as wearing a boyfriend shaped shirt in the fact that it is loose everywhere. In order to wear this look and not look like a total frump is by adding feminine details like the chunky sandals I paired with this. It would also look cute with a fitted top and booties. I can’t believe it took me this long to hop on this trend because I may actually live in these jeans.

Don’t forget I am hosting an awesome giveaway to win The Minted Necklace from Noonday which is ethically produced and a fair trade partner and you can easily enter to win that necklace HERE!

Dress-Versona // Sweater-Target (similar, similar) // Sunnies-Charmed // Rings- Ashkal & Elementality

Spring has sprung! And the perfect thing to pair with it is dresses (and bare feet). Light weight, flowy and printed is the way to go. I love this tie dye hankerchief hem dress I picked up from Versona (thanks Amanda for the gift card); it drapes on the body perfectly and the fabric is a dream. Tie Dye is kind of my thing right now, but not the crazy tourist hippy shirt tie dye, a dark dye in over sized shapes are the type I am digging. I wore this dress to the food truck showdown this past weekend and the wind was brutal so pairing this dress with a cocoon sweater actually gave it even more of a boho vibe. This dress will more than likely be on repeat a lot this Spring and Summer; it will even be great for my upcoming beach trip after my final semester in college!!! Also I’m pretty sure I’m going to be shopping at Versona (we have one in town in the Asheville Market) a little more often; affordable, quality clothing that fits my style perfectly.
