Seeing Stars

SHOP THIS POST: Tank // Jeans // Sneakers // Scarf (in stores only in the Dollar Spot) // Sunnies

We’ve come a long way in styling an #ootd for the Fourth of July since our mom dressed us and our siblings in matching Old Navy Flag Shirts. Ohh you know exactly what I’m talking about. And if you feel so inclined to go down memory lane, they are still producing their classic flag tee every year, here’s this year’s version. So this year I opted for some classic Old Navy goodness to bring together my patriotic 4th of July outfit.

I went for a super casual tank, that has stars on it, duhhh. Extremely flowy, really faded and all the Americana vibes. And by faded, I mean real faded. You will only be able to wear a nude bra with this because the material is extremely lightweight (yes please for that hot, sticky day) and you can see through it, especially the star portion. I like this tank because it’s cliche enough to wear for fireworks and cook outs but I can totally style this all Summer longer for a little edgier look. And it’s also not over the top cliche. But it’s the 4th of July, so who really cares honestly.

I paired this tank with cuffed jeans for that perfect Summer touch and a more grown up and pulled together look than pairing this with shorts. Ohh I cuffed these jeans to have some sort of air flow because we all know it’s bound to be hot and sweaty on the holiday in the South. Threw on some white chucks and paired it with a festive scarf and I’m ready to go. Can you guys believe I found this scarf in the Dollar Spot at Target?!? Red, lightweight and it has the most adorable patriotic tassels along the edges. $3.00! Win, Win for something you won’t wear all the time.

This look is perfect for a BBQ, beer and fireworks. Also if you are in Asheville please let me know where you watch fireworks. Almost 8 holidays here and I still haven’t found the “perfect” spot. Bring on the sparklers!

What are y’all wearing and getting in to for the holiday?

I’ll be sharing a more sophisticated 4th of July outfit later this week, because some of us will still choose fashion and style over cliche holiday vibes.

Also make sure you are following me on Instagram because I am hosting a huge giveaway for a Summer makeover along with some other amazing blogger babes this week! Get yourself entered!

Dress // Sandals (similar) // Hat // Lip

Happy Tuesday friends! I am head over heels with this dress (it’s under $40.00) for several reasons. The print is amazing, it’s comfortable and transitional. I have styled this with chunky sandals for late Summer but when the weather cools off this can be styled several other ways. This would look adorable with riding boots, chic with tights and booties, date night casual with booties or perfect for the holiday season with tights and heels.

I went back and forth on Snap Chat (go add me s.ferguson6623) on whether to buy this dress, which I tend to do on there. Now that I have this baby in my hands I’m glad I did.

Make sure you check back to the blog tomorrow to see what I carry in my Fall ba

Que No Doubt or Gwen Stefani because I feel like jamming out in this #ootd. And that is precisely why I love it. Oh and it’s super easy.

I kind of have this love affair with stripes. Up until a few years ago, stripes were something unless you were a stick, you should avoid. Always told by people of influence, stores, magazines, fashion icons and even people surrounding me. If you aren’t supposed to wear it, why were there so many stripes? Because I was meant to wear them! And I can’t stop. Stripes are my newest obsession. And the shape of the shirt is what makes the print flattering or not. I like to go for either a boxy, oversized shirt or a fitted shirt. This shirt is the boxy style and I love it. But let’s be honest, I love all my striped clothing.

Fashion is about taking chances on yourself. Finding something you like, no matter what anyone else thinks and rocking it. And that for me is stripes. Dark stripes.

Maximizing a closet. That’s what I’m all about. So when shopping I look at things to see how I can wear them differently and if they can make it through multiple seasons. This outfit is a prime example of just that.

This top is actually a dress. I love the color because wine, duh. But the reason I like it? I can wear it now as a dress (little short so maybe with bicycle shorts), I can knot a side for a different look and this will be perfect to pair with leggings for early Fall. You can knot any shirt if you have enough extra fabric. It gives a cool edgy or city chic vibe to any shirt taking your style up a knotch and transforming your look.

These are my favorite cuffed jeans that have made an appearance in several posts. These were not only a steal from Old Navy, but the shape and fit are perfect. And the best part, the cuffs aren’t permanent. So I can easily uncuff them and have some nice distressed boyfriend skinny jeans. This makes these perfect for wearing with any foot wear and will work in any season. I generally don’t go for a light wash denim because darker is slimming, but the shape of these work for me, so I will let it slide this time.

These booties, which are sadly no longer available are amazing. Edgy, my style and versatile. The cut out in the back make these so easy to wear with absolutely anything. Dresses, shorts, jeans; you name it they will work. And these will be perfect in colder months with tights.

A necklace that can be hung around the neck differently is a piece I love. This necklace has numerous types of beads and I can lay it around my neck for different parts to be shown in a different way. Plus since it has numerous different earthy tones and neutrals it can go with just about anything. It isn’t to neon for Winter and it isn’t too dull for Summer.

I always keep these things in mind when I’m shopping so in the end, I can get more bang for my buck and also get more out of pieces I love.

I’m back from vacation. I’m done with school. What a whirlwind of the past week it has been. One of the highlights of vacation was going to ELA’s for a celebratory lunch on Tuesday as it was the day I got my e-mail stating I was officially a college graduate! We celebrated with yummy seafood on a patio overlooking the sound. I went with a very casual #ootd for celebration since it was during lunch time with my fun twirly black skirt and an over sized heather grey t-shirt. For pops of beachy fun I added this beaded necklace from Noonday Collection and my all time favorite sunnies from a local boutique. I felt like myself. I felt like fun. I felt like someone whom is getting ready to dive head first in to the fashion world. I felt harbor cool. I felt like an empowered woman because I just finished college!

What’s not to love about this outfit. When I picked up this vest I wasn’t exactly sure how it was going to play out in my wardrobe but I knew it was would be a great layering piece for that city chic fashion intern look I was going for. I love the masculine details in this vest and when getting dressed for this day the entire #ootd kind of just fell together. The boyfriend jeans, boxy shirt and utility vest, especially the dark green color scream masculine but when paired with fun accessories it makes the perfect pair of masculine and feminine. I love everything about this outfit. From the stripes, the sandals, my custom leather bag, funky sunnies and the boho jewelry. This might just be one of my new favorite outfits that I have put together. And I feel SASSY AF in this!

Coachella Inspired

For the past two weekends all I have seen on social media are posts from Coachella and of course I’m a little jealous because I’m here in Asheville working and doing homework. So on Sunday when I had to run out and do some errands for a few projects I decided to bring Coachella with me in my #ootd minus faux body tattoos and floral crowns. This boyfriend top from Old Navy is the perfect basic piece to build up a boho look due to the shape. So I paired it with some DIY cutoffs for a little more festival flare. The finishing touches were the side braid and hat (but let’s be honest it was to disguise my dirty hair), neon tribal necklace, layered rings and booties. Then I jammed to Ellie Goulding in the car so in my mind it was kind of like the first weekend of Coachella minus the desert and all the famous people! I hope you all have a great start to the week!

No I didn’t not get dressed from my boyfriends closet but I did finally cave on the boyfriend jean trend. And ahhh I’m so gad I did. These jeans are the best. They aren’t uncomfortable like a lot of jeans are and the loose fit is perfect for casual days. I even went as far as wearing a boyfriend shaped shirt in the fact that it is loose everywhere. In order to wear this look and not look like a total frump is by adding feminine details like the chunky sandals I paired with this. It would also look cute with a fitted top and booties. I can’t believe it took me this long to hop on this trend because I may actually live in these jeans.

Don’t forget I am hosting an awesome giveaway to win The Minted Necklace from Noonday which is ethically produced and a fair trade partner and you can easily enter to win that necklace HERE!

Spring has sprung! And the perfect thing to pair with it is dresses (and bare feet). Light weight, flowy and printed is the way to go. I love this tie dye hankerchief hem dress I picked up from Versona (thanks Amanda for the gift card); it drapes on the body perfectly and the fabric is a dream. Tie Dye is kind of my thing right now, but not the crazy tourist hippy shirt tie dye, a dark dye in over sized shapes are the type I am digging. I wore this dress to the food truck showdown this past weekend and the wind was brutal so pairing this dress with a cocoon sweater actually gave it even more of a boho vibe. This dress will more than likely be on repeat a lot this Spring and Summer; it will even be great for my upcoming beach trip after my final semester in college!!! Also I’m pretty sure I’m going to be shopping at Versona (we have one in town in the Asheville Market) a little more often; affordable, quality clothing that fits my style perfectly.

Yesterday was the first day of Spring, or at least they say. It had been beautiful here in Asheville then dipped to freezing temps yesterday, there was even some snow showers last night. So I had to pull out the winter wear for what I’m hoping is the last day for a while. Yesterday was all about getting things done for both 30 Shades of Stephanie and school (I have a midterm at 10 and 12 today so keep your fingers crossed for me) and black is generally my go to #ootd for feeling like a #girlboss. What can I say, a black outfit makes me feel a little more powerful. But I just want to talk about this over sized t-shirt I recently found at Target. It’s perfect for wearing in Spring over leggings on it’s on or with a sweater for chilly (or freezing days), it would be perfect with boyfriend jeans for a casual look and would pair nicely with shorts for a fun summer look. And that’s what I look for when I’m shopping for pieces to add to my closet, even if they are very affordable. I hope all of you had a great first day of Spring!
