Deck your #ootd’s with red and green, Fa La La La La, La La La! Tis’ the season for festive dressing. Since we are just now at two weeks until Christmas it is time to pull out all the red and green garments you have and go wild with it. I don’t own a lot of red or green pieces in my closet. Shocker, I know right?! So when I recently had the chance to partner with Versona to pick up something for the holiday season and style, I was on a mission for something red or green and some statement earrings.
I tried on countless red and green pieces, many were out of my comfort zone and I shared them all with you on InstaStories (shameless plug if you aren’t following me you should). Nothing felt quite like me though. I was trying to pull together outfits in my head and decide on something festive yet that fit my personality and would work with my closet. Even when partnering with a brand, I always think about the long run. Like when will I wear this again and how will I wear this again. I am not wanting to fill my closet with pieces I don’t love and am not going to wear.
One of the lovely sales associate picked this green top for me and the minute I tried it on, I was like, yup this is it. Super basic, but the seaming makes the shirt extremely flattering, simple ruffled sleeves to keep the top trendy and a green I could live with. Something I knew I could dress up or down for the holiday season and get wear out of it past December. I immediately knew I would style it with this skirt I got from Versona last winter. A little edgy and a little more me.
Paired with these fun and festive statement earrings this shirt makes for the perfect holiday party look. I love, love these earrings. I’m so glad I scooped these up because I had been eyeing a pair like this from somewhere online for three times the price. Of course this couldn’t be a holiday outfit without my red pom pom shoes! So comfy, fun and festive. Sadly these are no longer available but I wish they were because everyone deserves some red pom pom shoes for the holiday season. So now I am ready for any type of holiday shindig thrown my way. Office parties, family parties, Christmas church services or even Christmas dinner. I am loving the simple, yet fun components of this festive #ootd!
Thanks again for Versona for having me create a festive look! And if you are in the need for any holiday outfit needs, make sure you check them out! Did you know we have a Versona in Asheville? It’s over by the Whole Foods off of Tunnel Road! And they do have red and green pieces galore! And also tons of statement earrings. And tons of gift ideas!
I wasn’t looking for a Christmas dress, I was going to re-style something that was already in my closet, but then I randomly saw this dress. Bright red, flowy, ruffles and flutter sleeves. Loved it! Tried it on, felt good in it, but didn’t buy it. I didn’t need the dress. I wasn’t sure if I would wear something so bright, because hello, I’m the girl who wears black on a regular basis. But then I was working on a few things, planning some more things for the blog and got an invite to a party. I will also have a wedding to attend in the fall of next year that this would be perfect for, so I went ahead and bought it. Because after long contemplation, I would get my wear out of it.
This dress is perfect for any festive event you have coming up this holiday season and it’s even more perfect because I know you are spending a ton of presents and the perfect decorations. This dress is under $35.00 and would be flattering on so many skin tones and shapes. This can be taken really festive, retro glam or even just kept simple and all three ways to style it would still be great for the holidays.
I just paired this with an oversized fur coat and block heels for a simple 70’s glam look. Not overly festive but also I can say Happy Holidays in this without feeling like a grinch. Seriously if you are in Target, check out this dress, it’s worth the double take.

It’s almost time to ring in the new year, which means reflections, resolutions, goals, dressing up and champagne toasts. Maybe even a kiss at midnight if you are one of those lucky ones.
But before you go and spend a fortune on a sparkly dress that you may only wear one night, let me just share my golden rule for #NYE dressing. YOU WEAR WHAT YOU WANT! You don’t have to wear a sparkly, fancy dress to celebrate the new year. You don’t have to go buy a new dress to celebrate the new year. I like wearing whatever I want, and to be honest I will probably be in my Old Navy plaid pjs by 10:00 anyways!
So pick something you like, even if the print is unconventional for NYE. I pulled this dress out of my closet, perfect for celebrating and perfect for the new year even though it’s a winter floral print. Paired with leggings and booties it looks fancy enough for going out, but adds comfort and my own personal style. I also love the idea of wearing a winter floral print for New Years, it’s symbolic. You want to bloom into a better version of yourself through goals in the new year.
If you are wearing a shiny, sparkly, sequin clad #ootn, you go for it, but don’t feel obligated too.

Ahhhh! We are in the final countdown to Christmas!! It’s time for all the dinners and holiday get togethers to start. I’ve been looking in my closet and trying to decide what I will be wearing to what and I’ve noticed I don’t really have a lot of green or red. But I do have this chartreuse piko style top that I think is the perfect alternative to the traditional holiday green. Paired with navy, this color combo is heaven! This year the holidays are pretty warm so going casual, comfortable and light weight might be the best option for me. So when you are looking in your closet, look for different shades of the holiday colors to put your own unique spin on your holiday #ootd!

This time of year we can really find ourselves in a style rut, even if we look stylish. This time of year, we as women and fashionistas feel we need to dress in holiday red and green, sparkles and fancy dresses to be festive. Now I love a good pop of red, fancy dresses and sparkles but we don’t have to dress that way to be festive. You actually can dress however you want, whenever you want. That’s a good motto right? As my style has changed over the years one thing has been constant lately, the need for subtle colors, more earthy tones and black because black is always a good idea. Since it’s Christmas time and that bright holiday green is everywhere, it’s starting to hurt my eyes. So I’m opting for a green in the olive family. I picked a sweater in this olive green color to look and feel cozy without going over board on the Christmas colors. I paired this with (go figure) grey and black for the more edgy cozy vibe. If these fringe booties and sunnies don’t scream edgy, I don’t know what else will. So when you are dressing for holiday get togethers or activities don’t feel you have to fit in to the holiday color scheme exactly. You can opt for more wine colored items instead of red and you can pick more earthy tone greens. Play up the textures in your #OOTD to create a cozy look but something that also fits with your style! Happy holiday styling.

The holiday season is creeping up on us. It brings stress and celebrations. For me it brings a busy work schedule and a busy personal life for the blog, school and celebrations. Even though things are hectic and I want nothing more than to leave the house in sweats and sweatshirts, I can not pull myself to walking out the door like that (unless it’s an emergency or I don’t have to actually go in to a business). My go to #ootd for when things get super busy is a mixture of black and white. It’s very simple in color but looks very pulled together and chic. When wearing a simple color palette, to avoid looking boring I like to mix patterns and textures to keep things interesting. This shirt is my favorite pattern at the time and when paired with a knitted scarf in the same color scheme it works. I like to go with dark denim for a more slimming effect and add a pop of fun with the shoes. These shoes are not just basic black flats, they are more like oxfords with different textures within the shoe. Adding a fun geometric piece of jewelry (or a big statement piece) also helps with the simple colors of the outfit. I have a lot of black in my closet so it took just as much effort to pull this together than it would have been to throw on sweats. So just because you’re busy doesn’t mean you can’t look pulled together!
What is your go to outfit of the day for the busy, hectic upcoming holiday season?
