This costume is about as basic as they come, but also easy and perfect for anyone in a time crunch or on a tight budget. Any black dress will work especially the more lacey or flowy the dress is, the better. Any tights and booties will work. Pull out all the stops with all that celestial jewelry that have been extremely popular lately. Bring on the best of your vampy makeup and anything will work for a witch costume. All you will need to buy is a witch’s hat ($3.00 from Target).

ICE CREAM CONE

Then you need colored card stock ($4.99 at Michaels) cut in to long strips and either glue or sew on to the white top. Here is the tutorial on how to make the fun cherry on top!

IRIS APFEL

A true fashion icon and the best thing about going as Iris is you can literally wear anything. Add bright colors and fur to make it extra Iris. And you can’t forget jewelry. Add as much as you like and do not go light. She loves her layers of bangles and necklaces. GHOST

Boo! Ghosts are a classic costume. Wear a monochromatic outfit of any kind in white or grey hues. Add sheer fabrics for a more spooky look. Tease your hair big time. And do your face makeup extremely white ($10.99 on Amazon) with dark lips and eyes.

Pulp Fiction is a classic, and going as Mia Wallace will win you all the cool points. All you need is some black pants, white button up and flats. To top off the look you need your nails painted red, a black bob wig ($16.99 on Amazon) and a fake cigarette ($3.75 at Wal-Mart). Bonus points for this being really work appropriate for dressing up.

SCARECROW

All you need for this costume is really denim and flannel. You can put on a floppy hat and add some straw for some extra realistic vibes. You can even hot glue a crow on your shoulder for a more spooky version of this costume. But the most important part of this costume is the makeup. Find a tutorial HERE.

CACTUS

Image Via

I can just imagine all the cute Instagram captions and pictures with this outfit. The most popular plant currently can be your costume. And you can even use cheesy lines like “don’t be a prick and bring me a drink please!” Dig out your brown pants and a hot glue gun. You will need a green sweatshirt ($11.39 at Wal-Mart), colored tulle ($2.99 at Michaels) and pipe cleaners ($2.99 at Michaels). You will want to cut up the pipe cleaners and fold in a “v” shape and hot glue on the sweatshirt as the prickly parts of the cactus. You can then cut up some tulle and put on the cuffs or make a headband out of it as the flower. Bonus points if you can find a ceramic pot wherever you are at and just stand there!

I hope you all get inspired for some Halloween costume ideas!

Low Key Halloween #OOTD and Activities

Low Key Halloween #OOTD and ActivitiesLow Key Halloween #OOTD and ActivitiesLow Key Halloween #OOTD and Activities

Happy Halloween! I am now the person who sits at home on Halloween. I’m not in to the bar scene anymore and let’s face it, Halloween calls all the crazies out, over priced drinks and a bunch of drunk jerks. So I stay home, pass out candy and enjoy the peaceful night. Even though I stay home, it isn’t boring. And if you decide to stay in, it doesn’t have to be boring either.

I’m wearing casual, comfy clothes that I can easily pass out candy in, kick back and watch a scary movie and make my own treats. And possibly dip my hand in the candy bowl. It’s starting to get colder so I’ve just paired some knee high socks with some leggings and a comfy dress.

If you are staying at home, make a night of it. Make your own cocktails or pick up some pumpkin beer (it’s the last you will get of the season before the holiday beer comes out). Picking up your own booze is much cheaper and safer than going out. Make a yummy dinner. You can make some hearty soup, like this chicken noodle soup or make mummified pigs in the blanket.

If you are by yourself I would opt for a stay at home spa night. If you are with friends or your significant other have a horror movie marathon, play your favorite childhood game (my favorite) or have a craft night.

Whatever you choose to do tonight be safe out there! If you are out and drinking please don’t drink and drive. If you don’t have a D.D. use code “96tfsue” for $20.00 off your first ride with UBER..

Pumpkin Spice Lip Scrub

Pumpkin Lip Scrub

Pumpkin flavored everything is in stores and it is the newest craze of Fall. Pumpkin actually has some amazing health benefits along with it, pumpkin is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. Pumpkin skin care is making it’s way on to shelves this year and it can be quite pricey. So I decided to whip up my own lip scrub with items I had around the house. Chapped lips are the worst in the winter, everyone seems to have the problem, and no one wants scaly lips. But lip scrubs can be very expensive. This one by Bliss is amazing but it’s also $18.00 for .5 ounces, so I found this pumpkin recipe on Pinterest. There are plenty of recipes on the link I found and realized these would make great Christmas gifts, you would just need to note to the recipient that this needs to be refrigerated.

I used 1/4 cup of everything; brown sugar, regular sugar, pumpkin puree, and coconut oil (which also has tons of health benefits), and added a little pumpkin pie spice for the scent. After mixing this up with a spatula I realized it might be easier to mix this in a food processor, so if you have one of those I would use that. Add more sugar for your desired consistency, the rougher you want the scrub add more sugar.

A Quirky Halloween OOTD

Flannel –Target // Cat Muscle Tank- Forever 21 (sold out, similar here and here) // Skirt-Charlotte Russe (sold out, similar here) // Tights-New York & CO (old, similar here) // Booties-Target // Socks-Ross (in stores only, similar here) // Lip Color- Maybelline Color Sensation Creamy Matte in Divine Wine

If you are not dressing up, going to a party or simply not into costumes for Halloween; you can wear a quirky fun outfit you might not usually wear (I would wear this outfit to a bar or art show). If all else fails and someone asks why you are dressed strange, tell them you are a hipster for Halloween. Have fun on the one day a year you can wear anything and no one will care! Adding bright colors to neutral prints is always a sure sign of fun in an outfit! Plus this outfit will give you the warmth you need if you are passing out candy or heading to a Halloween bonfire with friends!

Easy Halloween Costume

Easy Halloween Costume

I’m not one for going out and spending a lot of money on a costume, mainly because I don’t really do anything for Halloween anymore, so I like to use things I already have if I can. So one example is this scarecrow costume. I used a flannel shirt and a brown hat I had; I used an orange lipstick and black eyeliner I had for the makeup, and took some straw from some fall home decor. All together it makes for a cute outfit that didn’t cost me any extra money.

So look around your home, closet and make up stash to see what you can come up with. What are you dressing up as for Halloween?

I absolutely love the month of October. There are yummy treats to eat, yummy drinks to drink, parties, decorations, the weather and of course the dressing up. If I could I would dress up everyday of the month even to work. Hopefully you have a fun job where you do get to partake in Halloween festivities but if not do it at home. I think for work which you most of the times do not want to spend a ton of money on nor time should still be fun so here is some exciting cat makeup that I literally used stuff I had in my makeup drawer to create this look. Add some cat ears, wear all black or throw in some leopard print and you are an awesome cat!

The very first thing I did was coat my eyes with a shimmery white shadow then did a very dramatic cat eye and even extended the cat eye on both points.Meowwww

I added the nose by using a tiny art paint brush and some cream liner.Meowwww

Added a nude lip (feel free to use a bright red, orange or slightly pink), pale blush, and whiskers using the cream liner.MeowwwwMeowwwwMeowwww
