Jeans-Old Navy (old, similar) // Tunic-Target (old, similar) // Flannel-Target // Bean Boots-LL Bean // Earrings-Virtue // Necklaces- Jared and Wal-mart // Rings- Virtue and Ashkal
This #ootd is simply just a few of my favorite things. The color mustard, flannel, bean boots and unique jewelry. I love being able to add personality to any outfit with color, texture and fun finds. This is also a great example of mixing local finds with chain items. Unfortunately I can not afford to dress head to toe in items from local boutiques but a great way to support local is buying affordable items that can go with anything, and generally that’s accessories. I recently went to Virtue in downtown Asheville and found these cute earrings and this ring (which actually turns and has two stones). Both of these were very affordable (under $15.00 each) and I knew they were perfect for everyday wear. With the blue green colors, I knew this would go perfect with perfect Fall fabrics and colors for a quirky look. These two pieces will also look great for a boho vibe!
So if you are out shopping for your fashionistas on your list and wanting to shop local, to stay within a budget look for accessories that fit the person’s style and personality.

I love something that has a vintage feel to it. Especially for days of meetings or dates. Fur and polka dots scream vintage. So mixing the two together seemed very appropriate. The two pieces are new yet when together make it feel like I raided Joan from Mad Men’s closet. I kept the outfit of the day contemporary by adding a striped oxford shirt, with the sleeves rolled up. I did actually add a vintage necklace to the outfit to pull the whole Mad Men theme together. Now I’m ready for a coffee date or becoming a secretary, either one.
Sweater-Target (can get all sweaters 10% off with cartwheel app this week) // Scarf-c/o Dottie Q
It’s officially scarf season! And anyone who knows me, knows I love scarfs. I will wear them year round but love chunky knits for fall and winter. Yes, I love scarfs because they keep me warm, but I also love scarfs because they are easy to throw on with any outfit and take the outfit a little further. Throwing on a scarf over a sweater (chunky or not) makes the whole #ootd just a little more chic. With scarves you have endless possibilities. They come in different patterns, materials and most of them can be styled several different ways.
I have fallen in love with scarves from Dottie Q. Not only are they in beautiful knits, but the colors are just perfect. I love this grass color that I have since green is every where for Fall fashion. Of course you can get your regular style infinity scarf from Dottie Q but she offers something a little more exciting, a scarf necklace. This scarf (styled above) can be worn several different ways; we all know I love something that can be styled numerous ways. The scarf can be worn long with the wrap part at the nape of the neck or showing for a textural view. The scarf can be worn layered just like you would a necklace. You can take half of the scarf and loop it around your neck. Wearing the scarf long and layered actually allows for you to wear necklaces for an even more layered and textural look. Or you can double the whole scarf for a bundled up look. The possibilities are endless with this scarf.
Dottie Q scarves are all handmade and available on Etsy or on her website. She also offers boot socks and hand muffs. All of her pieces are as eco-friendly as possible, and she uses recycled mailing supplies. The best part of this shop; Dottie Q donates a percentage to Tenth Life Cat Rescue in St. Louis. You know that appealed to the cat lover in me!

Poncho Sweater- TJ Maxx (in store) // Jeans-Old Navy (old, similar) // Boots-Charlotte Russe (old, similar)
Just because the days are getting shorter and colder doesn’t mean date days or nights have to go away. I think when the weather cools down there are actually a lot of fun things to do for dates (I have a few ideas here). Unless I am hitting up a cool restaurant downtown or attending something a little more formal, I tend to keep date outfits a little more casual in the Fall. Comfort and being warm are more key to me for dates at a coffee shop, a casual dinner, a stroll through downtown or checking out a local haunting adventure. Ponchos are huge this season and can instantly add warmth and a little bit of chic to your #ootn. The prints, textures and different fabrics the ponchos come in make the options endless. You can find ponchos just about everywhere and can find them for just about every price point. Wal-Mart even has some stylish ponchos for under $15.00. When I saw this poncho sweater at TJ Maxx (for $13.00) I knew it would be perfect for cooler nights when I want to be both comfortable and warm but still look on trend. Pairing ponchos with pops of fall colored denim and riding boots makes the #ootd just a little more casual. Dress-Target // Kimono-Target (sold out) // Leggings-Forever 21 // Boots-Charlotte Russe (old, similar)
I can’t believe yesterday it was extremely hot and for the next few days we are expecting bad storms. I can’t believe today is the first day of October. This swing dress has been on repeat quite a bit lately because it is the perfect transitional piece. And there’s nothing I love more than a stripes and floral combo. I have been keeping my darker floral printed pieces (mostly kimonos) around for layering this fall. Just because the leaves are starting to die there are still some flowers that thrive in the cooler months. So why not continue to wear floral? Floral is really easy to pull off during these chillier days as long as the print is darker or muted hues. Throw on some leggings and boots and it makes the entire #ootd a little bit better for Fall.
Are you still wearing florals?.
Vest-Target // Shirt-Target (old, similar) // Jeans-Forever 21 // Boots-Charlotte Russe (old, similar) // Necklace-Viva La Jewels (10% off with code:stephanierep)
Two things I love this Fall: vests and date nights. I think date nights in the fall are so much fun and you have so many different options of things to do when the weather starts to cool down. When dates night roll around I generally gravitate towards dresses because they make me feel more feminine. But I have started experimenting with different looks and dressing up a pair of jeans for date night, because let’s face sometimes you just want to be a little more casual chic for your date outings. I think a vest is the perfect way to dress up some basic jeans and a shirt suitable for going out. I love this 70’s inspired vest from Target in the perfect shade of blush. It’s so easy to throw on over a shirt and instantly transform the entire #ootd. For added pizzazz, a sparkly necklace adds that perfect hint of girly that I’m looking for for a date!
What is your go to for your Fall date night #ootn?
Stay tuned later this week for all my fall date ideas for both day and night!

Plaid Button Up-Target // Tank-Old Navy // Leggings-Target // Boots-L.L. Bean
It’s finally officially Fall! Whoop! One of the biggest reasons I get so excited about Fall (besides the fashion) is the hiking. Yes hiking can be done all year round, but I think it’s just a little better in the Fall. The air is cooler (yay for not sweating standing still) and the views of the Fall foliage is much better. Who doesn’t love to see some leaves changing colors?!
So I get asked a lot about what I wear, or what to wear while hiking so I thought I would share. In fall it can be a little more tricky so as you would dress normally, I always suggest comfortable layers. In this I mean wear things that can easily be taken off and carried with ease.
I always, always wear leggings hiking. They are comfortable and easy to move around in. They add warmth without being something heavy on the body. I really like the leggings from target for hiking purposes. When the weather gets a little more chilly try some fleece lined leggings.
For tops, even in the fall I layer with a tank top or short sleeve. This is perfect if you get hot during the hike. I like to add a light weight button up or hoodie that if I get to warm I can easily tie it around my waist without being bogged down from the weight or a coat. Fleece button ups or flannel are great because they add a little extra warmth.
The most important part of your hiking #ootd is the shoes. Here in Western North Carolina hiking is not as rough as it is in other places so hiking boots are not something that you need (but if you want them I suggest these). However you still need a good pair of shoes. You need something that is sturdy, able to get wet and offers good support for your feet and often time ankles. There are plenty of hiking shoes that come in the form of sneakers. I love my bean boots because they are easy to clean, warm, allow my feet to get wet without have wet socks offer great support for my ankles.
What do you wear when you are hiking?.

It was finally chilly (and by chilly I mean it got below 40 Saturday night/Sunday morning) and I was finally able to break out a few warmer pieces. This swing dress is probably the most universally flatter dress, and swing dress are really big this fall. They are a bit shapeless and can easily be adjusted with a belt or cardigan if you aren’t wanting to go for the baggy boho look. This dress is a bit short but will be perfect for colder months with leggings or tights, but for now I simply wore some bicycle shorts under neath. It’s extremely easy to style these swing dresses because you can essentially put on anything with it and it will go. I paired mine with a blanket scarf and booties and had a pulled together fall look.
I picked up this scarf last year at Wal-Mart but is currently available again this year. This scarf is a great alternative to the expensive blanket scarves with the price point under $9.00. It is very similar but not as square but still large enough to be styled numerous ways that a blanket scarf is..

It’s raining outside as we speak and I’m feeling a little under the weather so layers are being added to the wardrobe slowly. But it’s still warm here in Asheville on most days (it actually won’t cool down in the city until about October) so a dress that can easily be worn with sandals on it’s on or layered with leggings and sweaters is something I am really gravitating towards here lately. This dress from Target is the perfect one for both of those needs. I can easily wear it with sandals or add layers (stretching my wardrobe with this piece). Fall is such a tricky time for wearing clothes because generally it’s chilly in the morning, warm in the day, and chilly at night until about October so finding pieces that really transition are key. In looking for transition pieces I weigh the options of how to wear the piece now and in the colder months so I get the best bang for my buck..
