It finally felt like Fall in Asheville this weekend. About time mother nature acted like the month we are in. So I took full advantage of the dip in temperatures to dress like the basic Fall loving female I like to think I am. But really I’m no where close to being basic. But I love a good flannel and white converse. So maybe that does make me basic.
The easiest thing to add to your outfit, no matter your budget or style that screams Fall is a Flannel. It literally is so versatile with any style. Whether extremely feminine, chic, a little hipster, a little basic or a little edgy; it works in your Fall wardrobe. It works in so many outfit options too. Dress it up or dress it down as I did this Sunday. And personally I think everyone should have some, yes plural. You really can not have too many. Flannel shirts, flannel scarves, flannel shirts, heck flannel pants!
Ok ok! I may be going overboard with my love for flannel but it really is that great versatile piece that works season after season.
This past weekend I headed out for an annual Blue Ridge Parkway Fall adventure. It happens every year, because I live in Asheville. DUH! This year in one day I hit up Mt. Mitchell, Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, Linville Falls and Littel Switzerland. Yes all in one day. And the leaf lookers were out in full force even though there wasn’t a ton of foilage. But I did want to dress not only comfortable but very Fallish. So I threw on some jeans and t-shirt because adventuring y’all. Added some converse, a flannel and my new favorite ballcap. Perfect for a day of exploring. But also perfect for casual days, bonfires or pumpkin shenanigans. I mean you could also wear something similar and go as an off duty lumberjack for Halloween.
Shopping Tip!!! Old Navy has the best and most affordable flannel options. Tons of cuts, styles and prints making it easy to stock up for your Fall wardrobe.

The leaves are in full color and last week the weather in Asheville actually felt like Fall. One of my favorite things to do in the Fall is get cozy and head to a local coffee shop. Whether to get work done, make lists or just enjoy the ambiance. I generally keep it pretty simple and comfy especially if I’m going to be attempting to get work done.
And that is how this outfit was born. My go to black skinny jeans and a striped shirt. Paired with an over sized sweater made it the perfect Fall coffee shop #ootd. I added a neutral sweater to break up all the black and add some interest in texture. Sometimes an all black outfit can be overwhelming and adding another neutral is a great way to not only add more life but break up your palette to make a more interesting look.
So since we are here, I do have to tell you guys about a new coffee shop in Asheville. What another one? My thoughts exactly. But this coffee shop is on the East side (and let’s face it, it’s lacking coffee shops and locally owned businesses) and it’s New Orleans style. Coffee and Beignets. Need I say more?! Authentic, delicious and a must visit. Bebettes serves up fresh made to order beignets, churros and self pour coffee, including coffee with chicory! Y’all it’s a must visit.
I’ll see you guys tomorrow to talk about blanket scarves!

Happy Tuesday friends! I am head over heels with this dress (it’s under $40.00) for several reasons. The print is amazing, it’s comfortable and transitional. I have styled this with chunky sandals for late Summer but when the weather cools off this can be styled several other ways. This would look adorable with riding boots, chic with tights and booties, date night casual with booties or perfect for the holiday season with tights and heels.
I went back and forth on Snap Chat (go add me s.ferguson6623) on whether to buy this dress, which I tend to do on there. Now that I have this baby in my hands I’m glad I did.
Make sure you check back to the blog tomorrow to see what I carry in my Fall ba
The first signs of Fall are in the Mountains. Even though it’s still hot as all get out during the day, the fair is currently in town, which means Fall is just around the corner. So we headed to the fair, because a once extremely small town girl has the tradition. The rides, the food, the animals, the shows, the ribbons. It makes me feel like a kid again.
Yet now, I eat my funnel cakes and corn dogs in a little more style. Thank goodness.
So here’s to all the fried, sticky, sweet foods and another year of tradition.

I don’t know what I love about this #ootd more. The floral dress? The hat? The flannel? The mixing of unusual prints to make an outfit I love? Fashion is supposed to be fun. And I think this outfit of the day is pretty fun. The lumberjack trend, or flannel is once again very popular. I have to be very careful not to look like a man while styling flannel because most cuts are not flattering to the female body. So the perfect way to style it for me is to throw it over a dress, especially a floral dress. The combo reminds me of the 90’s trend but is also pulled together. To make the outfit a little more “grown up” I added some simple riding boots and a hat. This chic look is somewhat of a style risk but so easy to pull off!
What style risks are you taking this Fall?
