Star of the Show: Perfect Holiday Sweater

Are you still looking for that perfect outfit to wear for Christmas? Or even New Years Eve? Well time is running out but you can still snag this fun sweater if you find it in store!

This seems like the perfect sweater for a much more casual NYE look, but I really like it for Christmas because it isn’t your typical over the top green or red sweater. You can be comfy and super cute in this. I decided to take this look for a total 90’s feel by adding a denim skirt, tights and booties. Super easy to pull off and extremely comfortable. And topped it off with my newest obsession, this Lack of Color hat. Which I may be wearing to everything.

Simple. Festive. Stylish.

Holiday Styling With Versona

Deck your #ootd’s with red and green, Fa La La La La, La La La! Tis’ the season for festive dressing. Since we are just now at two weeks until Christmas it is time to pull out all the red and green garments you have and go wild with it. I don’t own a lot of red or green pieces in my closet. Shocker, I know right?! So when I recently had the chance to partner with Versona to pick up something for the holiday season and style, I was on a mission for something red or green and some statement earrings.

I tried on countless red and green pieces, many were out of my comfort zone and I shared them all with you on InstaStories (shameless plug if you aren’t following me you should). Nothing felt quite like me though. I was trying to pull together outfits in my head and decide on something festive yet that fit my personality and would work with my closet. Even when partnering with a brand, I always think about the long run. Like when will I wear this again and how will I wear this again. I am not wanting to fill my closet with pieces I don’t love and am not going to wear.

One of the lovely sales associate picked this green top for me and the minute I tried it on, I was like, yup this is it. Super basic, but the seaming makes the shirt extremely flattering, simple ruffled sleeves to keep the top trendy and a green I could live with. Something I knew I could dress up or down for the holiday season and get wear out of it past December. I immediately knew I would style it with this skirt I got from Versona last winter. A little edgy and a little more me.

Paired with these fun and festive statement earrings this shirt makes for the perfect holiday party look. I love, love these earrings. I’m so glad I scooped these up because I had been eyeing a pair like this from somewhere online for three times the price. Of course this couldn’t be a holiday outfit without my red pom pom shoes! So comfy, fun and festive. Sadly these are no longer available but I wish they were because everyone deserves some red pom pom shoes for the holiday season. So now I am ready for any type of holiday shindig thrown my way. Office parties, family parties, Christmas church services or even Christmas dinner. I am loving the simple, yet fun components of this festive #ootd!

Thanks again for Versona for having me create a festive look! And if you are in the need for any holiday outfit needs, make sure you check them out! Did you know we have a Versona in Asheville? It’s over by the Whole Foods off of Tunnel Road! And they do have red and green pieces galore! And also tons of statement earrings. And tons of gift ideas!

Ahhhh! We are in the final countdown to Christmas!! It’s time for all the dinners and holiday get togethers to start. I’ve been looking in my closet and trying to decide what I will be wearing to what and I’ve noticed I don’t really have a lot of green or red. But I do have this chartreuse piko style top that I think is the perfect alternative to the traditional holiday green. Paired with navy, this color combo is heaven! This year the holidays are pretty warm so going casual, comfortable and light weight might be the best option for me. So when you are looking in your closet, look for different shades of the holiday colors to put your own unique spin on your holiday #ootd!

This time of year we can really find ourselves in a style rut, even if we look stylish. This time of year, we as women and fashionistas feel we need to dress in holiday red and green, sparkles and fancy dresses to be festive. Now I love a good pop of red, fancy dresses and sparkles but we don’t have to dress that way to be festive. You actually can dress however you want, whenever you want. That’s a good motto right? As my style has changed over the years one thing has been constant lately, the need for subtle colors, more earthy tones and black because black is always a good idea. Since it’s Christmas time and that bright holiday green is everywhere, it’s starting to hurt my eyes. So I’m opting for a green in the olive family. I picked a sweater in this olive green color to look and feel cozy without going over board on the Christmas colors. I paired this with (go figure) grey and black for the more edgy cozy vibe. If these fringe booties and sunnies don’t scream edgy, I don’t know what else will. So when you are dressing for holiday get togethers or activities don’t feel you have to fit in to the holiday color scheme exactly. You can opt for more wine colored items instead of red and you can pick more earthy tone greens. Play up the textures in your #OOTD to create a cozy look but something that also fits with your style! Happy holiday styling.

Ugly Christmas Sweater

I honestly have no clue why “ugly Christmas sweaters” became so popular. They remind me of teachers (sorry all my teacher friends), but they are here for a seasonal trend. You can find ugly sweaters at thrift shops (expect to pay more because of the demand), Hamricks, Michaels, Target or you could get a bunch of odds and ends and make your own. Target has a lot that are actually really cute. I found mine at Michaels Arts and Crafts and picked it up for a steal on Black Friday weekend. This one is actually cute in a way and I would probably wear this out in public and not just to the “Ugly Christmas Sweater” party; also I have been feeling a lack of Christmas cheer and this brought it out in full force. To style a more cute (rather than really hideous) I kept everything else modern with the outfit. I paired the sweater with some straight legged pants slipped in to some red boots. I didn’t wear any jewelry for the distraction. While doing my make up, I went for a more soultry look to keep the look as feminine as possible. I found these gold glittery antlers in the Target Dollar Spot and thought they were the perfect touch for the outfit. I could really see myself wearing this #ootd to get togethers, work or grabbing coffee with some friends. Are you wearing the ugly Christmas sweater this season?

Also don’t forget you can enter to win some really great prizes in my holiday giveaway that is currently going on. Also remember I will be donating $20.00 for every 50 entries to Helpmate in Asheville. You can enter the giveaway HERE!
