Happy Tuesday friends! I am head over heels with this dress (it’s under $40.00) for several reasons. The print is amazing, it’s comfortable and transitional. I have styled this with chunky sandals for late Summer but when the weather cools off this can be styled several other ways. This would look adorable with riding boots, chic with tights and booties, date night casual with booties or perfect for the holiday season with tights and heels.

I went back and forth on Snap Chat (go add me s.ferguson6623) on whether to buy this dress, which I tend to do on there. Now that I have this baby in my hands I’m glad I did.

Make sure you check back to the blog tomorrow to see what I carry in my Fall ba

I was recently introduced to the company LulaRoe which they are known for their leggings, but I’m testing out a few different pieces including this Amelia dress! I love love this dress even though it is a tad longer than I would normally wear for a shorter dress. The shape, pattern and the fact that there are pockets reminds me of a 50s style dress, which I love. This dress is a serious contender for my graduation celebration. I kept my make up extremely simple and added accents of gold to modernize the #ootd a little more. For a casual day of grocery shopping I just added some sandals but this would like great with some red heels.

What’s not to love about this outfit. When I picked up this vest I wasn’t exactly sure how it was going to play out in my wardrobe but I knew it was would be a great layering piece for that city chic fashion intern look I was going for. I love the masculine details in this vest and when getting dressed for this day the entire #ootd kind of just fell together. The boyfriend jeans, boxy shirt and utility vest, especially the dark green color scream masculine but when paired with fun accessories it makes the perfect pair of masculine and feminine. I love everything about this outfit. From the stripes, the sandals, my custom leather bag, funky sunnies and the boho jewelry. This might just be one of my new favorite outfits that I have put together. And I feel SASSY AF in this!

No I didn’t not get dressed from my boyfriends closet but I did finally cave on the boyfriend jean trend. And ahhh I’m so gad I did. These jeans are the best. They aren’t uncomfortable like a lot of jeans are and the loose fit is perfect for casual days. I even went as far as wearing a boyfriend shaped shirt in the fact that it is loose everywhere. In order to wear this look and not look like a total frump is by adding feminine details like the chunky sandals I paired with this. It would also look cute with a fitted top and booties. I can’t believe it took me this long to hop on this trend because I may actually live in these jeans.

Don’t forget I am hosting an awesome giveaway to win The Minted Necklace from Noonday which is ethically produced and a fair trade partner and you can easily enter to win that necklace HERE!

It may be Spring and according to fashions past they say you need to wear florals, brights, pastels and white. But the times are changing and unless you want to wear these things, you don’t have to. There are plenty of other options out there now and neutrals and earthy tones are very popular right now. Like this greige (mix between grey and beige) utility dress. This dress is an amazing color, style, fit and goes perfect with the Asheville street fashion look. Can I wear this dress every day? No that’s probably not socially acceptable, but it’s really that comfortable. This dress is perfect with leggings for those chillier Spring days, would be a perfect date night look with some strappy, chunky heels and a bold statement earring, it would be perfect for the beach to wear your swimsuit around a little beach town under this, it would make a great traveling #ootd and it would be perfect for the festival scene paired with some sneakers or booties. It’s really just that versatile. And for me, the color is perfect to go with my more chic, city girl look I’m trying to achieve. I see getting a lot of use out of this outfit (probably for the entire year).

Low Key Neutrals

I really like stocking my closet with simple, neutral, versatile pieces. My neutrals are more in the grey and black family, but none the less neutrals. When I have pieces that are simple in pattern and color that I enjoy it makes dressing much easier for me. Many of my pieces can be mixed and matched with so many other things in my closet to make numerous #ootd.

Here lately I have been going for simple yet chic, really going for a mixture of NYC chic and boho. With school, work and interning my days seem to have gotten much shorter and require as little effort as possible in getting ready. This is a look I would wear to meetings, replace the boots with flats and wear it to work, I would wear this for video chats or presentations for school and even wear it for my local fashion internship. I feel really pulled together with the neutrals and stylish by adding some pops of funky jewelry and mixing textures.

I also have a little confession, I like big bags. I have constantly tried to go to a smaller bag but it just doesn’t work. I want to add more stuff and more stuff and I end up running out of room. I have so much I need to carry with me at all times due to my busy schedule; no kidding you can literally find electronics, flash cards, energy bars, accessories for transforming, paint, sketchbooks and plenty of beauty products (especially this homemade salve/lipbalm Andrew’s sister-in-law made for Christmas). Big bags are part of a busy girl’s life. So if you are like me or a mom I highly recommend when shopping for a larger bag to pick one of a neutral shade, one that isn’t overly trendy so it lasts longer, high quality to avoid tears, and one with sturdy straps that are both strong and comfortable.

Spring Vest Fever

I’ve been dreaming about Spring a whole lot more here lately. We had a large snow storm here in Asheville and Valentine’s Day is over so I’m ready for bright blooming flowers and a little warmer temperatures. I have been slacking in posting blog posts simply for the fact that this semester is much more intense than I ever thought possible. I’m trying to get better, I promise. But if I fail make sure you are following me over on Instagram where I try to post almost daily.

So since I’m dreaming of Spring I have started focusing more on lighter fabrics instead of all the bulky sweaters that have been taking up my wardrobe for the past month. Since Spring weather can be just as fickle as this Winter weather we have had here in the mountains I still keep layering in mind. Light layers. I love having a few vests for layering in Spring, especially a light wash denim vest. A light wash denim vest can be paired with absolutely any top and that’s why I love the versatility of it. I love it paired with this striped shirt and black skirt for the perfect transition from a Winter to Spring #ootd.

Black and White For New Years Eve

So you think your New Years Eve outfit of the night has to be sparkly overload? Wrong! Personally I find sequined and sparkly outfits pretty uncomfortable (most are itchy) and not to mention they snag on everything. So since I’m a lover of black clothing, I’ve come up with an equally festive outfit. Black and white is the perfect go to for any holiday get together including NYE. I picked up this skirt from Target recently with a huge score thanks to the Cartwheel app and knew it would be perfect for holiday pairing. Since the skirt has a pattern and a fun flirty shape, I am keeping everything else simple. A fitted sweater, leggings and fringe booties to add some more texture to the outfit. I also have some bright blue shoes that go perfect with this outfit for a pop of color. Add the sparkle in your jewelry and you are ready to bring in the new year. If you still want more sparkles I would opt for sparkly shoes like these which is more affordable than a sparkly dress and you will probably get more wear out of them. What are you wearing for New Years?

Ahhhh! We are in the final countdown to Christmas!! It’s time for all the dinners and holiday get togethers to start. I’ve been looking in my closet and trying to decide what I will be wearing to what and I’ve noticed I don’t really have a lot of green or red. But I do have this chartreuse piko style top that I think is the perfect alternative to the traditional holiday green. Paired with navy, this color combo is heaven! This year the holidays are pretty warm so going casual, comfortable and light weight might be the best option for me. So when you are looking in your closet, look for different shades of the holiday colors to put your own unique spin on your holiday #ootd!

This time of year we can really find ourselves in a style rut, even if we look stylish. This time of year, we as women and fashionistas feel we need to dress in holiday red and green, sparkles and fancy dresses to be festive. Now I love a good pop of red, fancy dresses and sparkles but we don’t have to dress that way to be festive. You actually can dress however you want, whenever you want. That’s a good motto right? As my style has changed over the years one thing has been constant lately, the need for subtle colors, more earthy tones and black because black is always a good idea. Since it’s Christmas time and that bright holiday green is everywhere, it’s starting to hurt my eyes. So I’m opting for a green in the olive family. I picked a sweater in this olive green color to look and feel cozy without going over board on the Christmas colors. I paired this with (go figure) grey and black for the more edgy cozy vibe. If these fringe booties and sunnies don’t scream edgy, I don’t know what else will. So when you are dressing for holiday get togethers or activities don’t feel you have to fit in to the holiday color scheme exactly. You can opt for more wine colored items instead of red and you can pick more earthy tone greens. Play up the textures in your #OOTD to create a cozy look but something that also fits with your style! Happy holiday styling.

XOXO
